Start with a meal, not a rulebook
A helpful training meal doesn’t need to be complicated. Think about a source of protein, some carbohydrate, vegetables or fruit, and enough food to feel comfortably fuelled. Your preferences, appetite, and training load all have a part to play.
Protein can come from beans, lentils, tofu, eggs, dairy, fish, or meat. Find options you enjoy and can prepare regularly. A powder can be convenient, but an ordinary meal can do the job too.
Make everyday ingredients easy to reach
Frozen vegetables, tinned beans, oats, rice, and seasonal fruit can make a busy week easier. Build a small set of meals from ingredients you already like. A stocked cupboard and one prepared lunch often help more than an ambitious menu with no time to cook it.
Leave room for the rest of your life
Food is also celebration, comfort, and time with other people. You don’t need to make every meal a performance decision. Notice the routines that support your energy and recovery, adjust what isn’t working, and leave room to enjoy eating.
